July Update

Roster verification is finished! All of the section leaders have reported back with their final tallies and we finally have a 2019 Roster. The band is larger than we anticipated but that’s a good thing. It will be a challenge getting enough equipment and fitting everyone but the end result will be amazing.

Drill writing begins on Monday July 15, using the roster that was verified by the section leaders. There are no empty spots and no alternates. If you are a verified member of BMB and an emergency happens where you cannot meet your commitment, you MUST us know before August 1st. That will give us time to find someone to fill your spot or eliminate the spot altogether. After August 1st, a drop is not acceptable.

It's an Exciting Time to be a BMB Member

It seems that every time I turn around there is another piece of good news regarding the direction and progress of BMB. Well, here we go again. A few days ago a new project was initiated that has the potential to be the biggest boost to BMB’s image and quality of the past 19 years. I’m not talking about the new drumline, the new batch of uniforms, and renovations of facilities that we announced earlier this Spring. Those projects are underway and will be in place by this Fall I’m talking about something new that none of you have heard about. I can’t give any details at this point but I can say that this initiative will greatly improve the overall image of BMB as well as the quality of the individual BMB experience for each member.

I apologize for putting you in suspense but you’ll just have to wait for an official announcement.

Update on Purchases

The purchase requisition for the new drumline has been submitted and now we start the waiting game for the arrival of the new drumline. This is all custom finish equipment so delivery will be mid Summer. To change things up and show a new look we have ordered Vintage Gold Sparkle. These drums will have a hard finish on maple, not a wrap.

Here is the list of new equipment.
*10 Snares, 8 Toms, 5 Sets of Tenors, 6 Basses
*New carriers for all of the above
*New stadium hardware (stands) for all of the above (including snares and toms)
*Cases for all of the above
*Practice covers for all of the above

A purchase requisition has also been submitted for additional uniforms. This will finally put everyone in the same uniform! If we still run short I have ideas for how we can adapt to expand the inventory but we should not have any section in the old style uniform next year. Our shakos and capes are the same in the old and new styles so we did not need as many of these items.

Here is the list of new uniforms.
*106 Uniform Coats
*106 Uniform Pants
*64 Shakos
*20 Capes

Welcome To The New Blugold Marching Band Website !

Welcome to the new Blugold Marching Band website!

After nearly two decades of using the previous website, Dr. Dickerson, along with 2019 Blugold Marching Band Planning Committee, put together a sub committee to build the new website. After many hours of work put in by both committees and Dr. Dickerson, it is finally complete!

The new website showcases the heart and soul of the BMB to all, by providing information about the band and it’s extensive history. Members of the band will have full access to the site, including content that is password sensitive.

The 2019 season will mark Dr. Dickerson’s 20th year with UW Eau-Claire, and the new website is the perfect way to kick it off!

Special thank you and congratulations to the website committee , and an early congratulations to Dr. Randal Dickerson on celebrating his 20th season with the band!

Blugolds, prepare for glory!

Major Renovations Planned for BMB Storage Areas in HFA

BMB was just notified from campus authorities that we are the recipient of a major lab modernization grant for the 2019-2020 academic year. These funds will be used to renovate several areas in HFA that will be used for BMB storage and purchase a new drum line.

Shared Storage
The area between the instrumental and choral rehearsal rooms, commonly known as "shared storage" will be renovated to house only BMB instruments.

Drum Line Storage & New Equipment
The room that is currently used for uniform storage will be converted into a dedicated drum line space, complete with harness hangers and cubicles for cases. A wide door will also be added from the hallway directly into the room. Funds are also being provided to purchase a complete new drum line to replace the Mapex line.

Podium Storage
A new outdoor storage facility is being constructed beside the southwest loading dock to store the podiums. This will eliminate the need for bringing the podiums inside and will protect HFA floors. It will also provide easier access for rehearsals and for truck loading.

BMB Headquarters & Uniform Storage
A new suite is being created on the second floor of HFA which will house all BMB uniforms, merchandise, and off-season instrument storage. It will also serve as an office for the managers to work on roster, attendance, bus lists, and other documents.
